Laerskool Lydenburg
Historylaerskool Lydenburg
is a school with a long history and its roots lie deep in our town's development. In 1851 Master Willem Poen walked into his thatched roof classroom - still known as the Voortrekker school and a cultural-historical monument in the town. During 1884, the first state school was built into an old agricultural hall. This is where the SPAR complex currently is. The second permanent school building in Nel Street was inaugurated in 1966. Many principals contribute to the particular school's development and Mr Cornelus Lemmer is currently the principal.
A small beginning with 15 learners has grown to 1420 learners. Laerskool Lydenburg has a rich history and is established in education. However, our school keeps up with the changing times and society. From a small agricultural town to a large industrial mining community, Laerskool Lydenburg contributes to the rapid growth and development of our town.
Our skilled staff ensure that the school is up to date with the latest teaching methods and modern technology. This ensures that LSL has been and will always be a school that continues to function effectively and makes a difference from generation to generation.
Forward is our motto and we always strive towards excellence. Here children are cherished, among high mountains and streams of water because this is what the heavenly Father expects of us.
